What is Rolled Gold?
Rolled Gold is a solid layer of Gold bonded with heat and pressure to a base metal, such as Brass or Copper. Cashelle Rolled Gold is a layer of 14kt Gold on jeweller's brass. The thickness of the 14kt Gold is 1/20th of the total weight of the article and is marked where possible, 14/20.
Rolled Gold is not Gold plated
Gold plated articles are electroplated using a gold solution which imparts a thin layer of gold on the article to be plated. The thickness of the gold can vary from 0.5 of a micron to many microns depending on the article that is plated. Gold plated Items usually have a short life span and will wear off over time. Rolled Gold Items, even with daily wear can last from 20-30years.
